Privacy policy · Updated October 24, 2026
Private by default.
Useful by choice.
This policy describes the current Tailside web and private iPhone preview. Tailside is provided by HeyYou, Inc., which is responsible for the information described here. It will be updated before a broader consumer release.
What the preview stores
- Private session, account, and household identifiers when available.
- Your email address, if you sign in, plus sign-in sessions. Sign-in codes are stored only as a one-way hash and expire after 10 minutes.
- Pet identity, age, species, breed, health facts you provide, body measurements, and kennel details.
- Trip routes, dates, selected pets, requirement status, and transportation-planning results.
- Uploaded originals, OCR text, extracted fields, and your confirmations.
- Security and audit events used to protect the service and explain changes.
Why the data is used
To calculate trip-specific requirements, keep evidence matched to the correct pet, prepare time-based actions, compare transportation policies, and help coordinate pet-space confirmation. A planning result is not government, veterinary, or airline approval.
OCR and document review
OCR may read fields from an uploaded record. Tailside does not silently treat extracted text as verified. You review the parsed fields against the original before they count as evidence.
Retention and control
An anonymous preview session stays available while you use it and expires after 90 days without use unless upgraded to an account. The preview includes a structured export, individual uploaded-document deletion, and complete workspace deletion. Security logs may persist briefly as required to operate and protect the service.
Service providers and borders
Tailside may use infrastructure, authentication, email, OCR, and flight-data providers strictly to operate the product. Sign-in codes are emailed through Resend, which receives only your email address and the code. Before public release, approved vendors and cross-border transfers will be documented and reflected in this policy.
Sharing
A trip story or shared page must exclude uploaded documents, microchip numbers, health details, precise home locations, private readiness details, and live location. Sharing is a separate user action and never makes the underlying workspace public.
Contact and requests
Use the private support request in Account + Privacy for access, deletion, or correction help. See Your Privacy Choices for step-by-step controls. Do not send pet medical or identity documents through an ordinary public channel.
This preview is not yet an approved source of government, veterinary, or airline advice.
Website measurement
Our self-hosted Umami counter records coarse page categories, browser, device and approximate location statistics. It receives no pet profiles, trip details, documents, names, emails, search text, full URLs or persistent visitor IDs. It uses no cookies or local storage, records no sessions, and respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. IP addresses are used transiently for daily counting and location, and are not stored by Umami.
